For reasons I have never learned, one of the very best spots at Mt. Auburn belongs to Mary Baker Eddy, the wacky founder of the Christian Scientists. Why she's there and not interred in the Mother Church (one of Boston's most beautiful buildings, by the way) is beyond me. Still, her large, striking monument at Mt. Auburn, on the edge of one of the ponds, is undeniably a very beautiful place to await the Second Coming, or whatever it is Christian Scientists do when they're dead.
